Biographie
Charles Richard-Hamelin s’impose sur la scène musicale internationale comme un pianiste « hautement sensible » (Gramophone), animé par « une grande profondeur de sentiments sans la moindre condescendance » (Le Devoir). Il est reconnu comme un interprète « polyvalent, multidimensionnel et d’un lyrisme séduisant, un technicien d’une élégance et d’une sophistication exceptionnelles » (BBC Music Magazine).

Il a notamment reçu, en 2015, la Médaille d’argent au Concours international de piano Frédéric-Chopin à Varsovie et le prix Krystian Zimerman pour la meilleure interprétation d’une sonate. Il a aussi remporté le deuxième prix au Concours musical international de Montréal, ainsi que le troisième prix et le prix spécial pour la meilleure interprétation d’une sonate de Beethoven à la Seoul International Music Competition.

Il a travaillé avec des chefs de renom, dont Kent Nagano, Vasily Petrenko, Jacek Kaspszyk, Aziz Shokhakimov, Peter Oundjian, Jacques Lacombe, Fabien Gabel, Carlo Rizzi, Alexander Prior, Christoph Campestrini, Lan Shui, Jean-Marie Zeitouni, Charles Olivieri-Munroe, Howard Shelley, Antoni Wit et Jonathan Cohen. Il a été invité par l’Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, les orchestres symphoniques de Québec, Toronto, Edmonton, Varsovie, Singapour et Hiroshima de même qu’avec l’Orchestre Métropolitain, Les Violons du Roy, I Musici de Montréal, l’Orchestre du Centre national des Arts, l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Calgary, l’OFUNAM (Mexico), le Kraków Philharmonic, l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Poznan et la Sinfonia Varsovia.

In 2015, he received the Silver Medal at the International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw and the Krystian Zimerman Prize for best performance of a sonata. He also won Second Prize at the Concours musical international de Montréal and Third Prize and the Special Prize for best performance of a Beethoven sonata at the Seoul International Music Competition.

Charles Richard-Hamelin has recorded six albums to date, all released under the Analekta label.
